Client: TLC Aged Care
Services: Architecture, Interiors, Project Management, Superintendency
Location: Whittlesea, VIC, AU
Located in a growing region on the urban-rural fringe of Melbourne, this project required the extensive redevelopment of an existing 90-bed aged care facility, doubling it in size and transforming it into a 180-bed facility.
True to the facilities name and the clients brief, the internal spaces are bright, generous and welcoming. Cathedral ceilings create dramatic volumes in living and public areas, with finishes in muted oak tones, rich carpets and warm white. With subtle textures added to the cathedral ceilings and passage wall panelling by incorporating grooved linings, a layered and textural effect was created.
Social facilities include a café, cinema/virtual reality room, activity rooms and various living, dining and sitting rooms. Beauty therapy facilities were created with a high-end salon- like experience through the use of stone and marble look finishes, edge lit mirrors and a refined selection of fixtures.
