This project designed by Melbourne architect Thextonsmith, consists of an eight-suite mental health consulting facility incorporating General Practitioner and Pathology suites.
The project required some persuasive design to ensure the program fit on site with some tight development controls and a conservative council. The client requested a coastal look to the facility, which was achieved via the innovative design of the main feature elements, and the material palette including vertical timber cladding and standing seam zinc cladding.
The dynamic look of the main feature elements stems from the client’s request to pull natural light deep into the building. Our response was to create a wide and inviting glazed entry, and supplement this with highlight windows to the raised sides of the feature elements.
