A new 64m2 addition to an existing aged care facility, designed by Melbourne Aged Care Architect Thextonsmith includes a hydrotherapy pool, change room and showers and an extension to the existing gym, this addition stands out thanks to its simple rectangular glazed form contrasting with the existing brick and tile building.
In response to the client brief for a light and visually connected addition, a contemporary and minimalist glazed box was conceived, providing ample light to the hydrotherapy pool and gym, and proudly displaying the new resident amenities.
With the new additions came a refurbishment to the access passageway, introducing soft and light finishes with a timber battened ceiling and vertical weatherboard-look wall lining, providing warmth and texture.
